Emotional Expression is key for a successful coaching transformation
Emotional Expression is key for a successful coaching transformation journey.
When I am starting with a new coaching client, I observed that initially, they will find it very hard to explain their situation.
I spend a lot of time understanding their situation, challenges, goals, and what they want to achieve out of coaching as an outcome.
Being with the client, being mindful, connecting with intent – content- emotion with the client, being in their space, and being out of the zone is key skills for a coach to help a coaching client.
Yesterday one of the new coaching clients had a powerful coaching session. After the session, she was finding it hard to express her emotions in right words. Emotional expression is key for understanding current state.
She has great painting skills and when she was struggling to explain her emotions, I suggested if she wants to explore her painting skills to put a shape to her thoughts.
She did this painting in 1 hour and called me. She was able to logically isolate her emotions and layer them over each other. This helped me to reframe her thoughts and stay true to her inner self.
Her self-awareness level went up substantially after the coaching session.
Coaching tools are amazing and it combines both Art & Science.
Self-Transformation means awareness coupled with the responsibility to take action.
I know clearly that my coaching client is a responsible action taker.
So I closed the coaching session wishing her good luck.
